24 Sep. 2014 | The Architecture and Landscape are expressions of identity, history and collective culture, with a particular reflection in education, social inclusion and citizen participation, and strong implications for the development of our country, particularly in the frames of innovation and creativity, sustainability environmental, energy efficiency and combating climate change, contributing to a more competitive economy to a more dignified, just and inclusive society.
The vast majority of EU countries recognized the Architecture and Landscape as important resources and strategic lines of action of the State, through concerted public policies aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens, promote Architecture and Landscape understood as a guarantor of quality and sustainability of the natural and built environment, and as a feature of culture and citizenship.
A National Policy on Architecture and Landscape based on the need to expand the role of Portugal in the framework of international commitments and enhance the quality of the natural and built environment, such as strategic factors in a development framework that ensures the well-being and quality of life citizens, increasing civic awareness and participation and those of civil society organizations in its implementation.
Being such the relevance of Architecture and Landscape as well as public and common interest, the creation and implementation of a public policy of Architecture and Landscape is a goal of Portugal.
The Government of Portugal decided to open a public consultation phase, to collect input from all interested parties, thereby promoting a broad and participatory involvement. The public consultation is carried out through questionnaires, online only, available here, for a period of 45 days, running from September 15th (15:00) and October 31, 2014 (23:59).
