Scandinavian Landscape Forum 2014 starts soon

Last day to pre-register for the forum in Marstrand on 9-11 October 2014

6 Oct. 2014 | The island of Marstrand, in the Gothenburg’s archipelago (Sweden), will provide the ideal location for the Second Scandinavian Landscape Forum that will be held between the 9th and the 11th of October 2014. 105 persons have registered for the event, while several more have announced to come. Today is the last day when you can pre-register for the three up-coming events. It is still possible to register during the conference.

The Scandinavian Landscape Forum is organized by the Sveriges hembygdsförbund together with CIVILSCAPE. Furthermore the Riksantikvarieämbetet (RAÄ), the Region Västra Gotaland and the North Sea Food Association are prime partners for this event.

The Scandinavian Landscape Forum will focus on the change processes of our marine and coastal landscapes. In this context the sometimes different perceptions of local people, visitors and tourists are a key how these landscapes can be used in a sustainable way. In this way the Scandinavian Landscape Forum will be a important stakeholder event for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention on local and regional level, but also for the proposed European Cultural Route North Sea Food which will use the landscape approach as key, too.

The conference will be organized in a number of workshops where experiences, ideas and best practice can be shared. Starting on Thursday from the coastal landscape providing space to active stakeholder involvement to proposed North Sea Food Route, the workshop on Friday and Saturday will focus how the understanding of landscape is linked to local knowledge, experience and traditions.

The Sveriges hembygdsförbund - as a member of CIVILSCAPE - aims to foster the implementation of the ELC in Sweden. The intention of the forum is to provide background information, to identify success factors and to identify the resources that will be needed in this process. Furthermore the forum will set up and facilitate concrete projects by involving different stakeholders.

A detailed program for the Second Scandinavian Landscape Forum is available at http://www.civilscape.eu/civilscape/public/en/events/pages/1398072678.xml

The Scandinavian Landscape Forum is made possible by funds provided by the organizers and financial contribution by the Region Västra Gotaland, the Riksantikvarieämbetet (RAÄ) and the North Sea Food Association.

Parallel event/1: North Sea Food Association’s assembly

The North Sea Food Association has been founded in November 2013 in Leeuwarden. North Sea Commission Culture and Tourism Group gathered for a 2-day meeting in Leeuwarden on 21-22 November 2013. The regions around the North Sea that are part of the working group have started a joint initiative called North≈Sea≈Food that intends to bundle the different activities in culture and tourism. The main aim of the association is to transform the initiative North≈Sea≈Food into a European Cultural Route, a certificate provided by the Council of Europe to prominent cultural and tourist itineraries. Therefore, they decided to set up the North≈Sea≈Food Association as a legal entity in order to apply for the European Cultural Route certificate. Since than several member regions have undertaken activities to implement the initiative. CIVILSCAPE has been a founding member and is involved to the process.

The North Sea Food Association will have its first general assembly on October the 9th in Marstrand.

Parallel event/2: CIVILSCAPE’s General Assembly

The 2014 General Assembly will be held in Marstrand on October the 11th. The main issue will be the election of the president, vice-president, treasurer and board members. The Advisory Board members will be elected in 2015 by the General Assembly delegates.
